BOCA RATON, FL – Boca Raton Football Club is excited to announce the hiring of Silvio Costa as an advisor and assistant coach for the 2019 Season.
A native of Brazil, Costa was well-known in the 90s where he played for a number of powerhouse teams in Brazil including Grêmio, Internacional, and Fluminense. Costa also played with the Brazilian National Team, where he played 21 games for The Seleção, Costa came in second place in the 1991 Copa America with the National Team.
“I’m excited to join Boca Raton FC. This is a time in which players are coming to the United States to get better, and I believe Boca Raton FC will be fundamental in helping these players,” said Costa. “I am honored to be learning from someone like Jim [Rooney], who is very well respected around the world and has top-class coaching credentials.”
As an advisor/assistant coach, Costa will be an advisor to the Brazilian players looking to make the move to Boca Raton FC and will also assist head coach Jim Rooney in the soccer operations of the club. With the signing of Costa, Boca Raton FC has also relieved Villy Washington of his duties as assistant coach.
“Having Silvio with us is a reflection of the growth we are experiencing,” added team president Douglas Heizer. “We have bold plans for next season and the presence of a former player who defended the Brazilian team will serve as a mirror for our players.”
