Boca Raton FC fell short in a comeback attempt, losing 2-1 to Kraze United at Atlantic High School Friday night, in the club’s NPSL Sunshine Conference home opener. Junior Prevalus spectacular, tight-angled  89th minute goal for Boca Raton FC set up a frantic three plus minutes of stoppage time in which Kraze United held on. 

Boca Raton kept possession well in midfield for much of the match but couldn’t convert a number of first half chances.  Prevalus had two opportunities to open the scoring for Boca Raton in minutes 23 and 28 but couldn’t convert either opportunity. In minute 33, Boca Raton captain Bruno Militz had a one on one with Kraze United keeper Philip D’Amico, but D’Amico made a great save. Minutes later, Kraze United had an outstanding opportunity to score on a two on one break, but Boca Raton keeper Leo Tavares charged off his line and broke up the play.

Kraze United’s Bryce Follensbee had been dangerous all of the first half on counter attacks and he got rewarded for his efforts in first half stoppage time with a skillful move which he put in the back of the net.

In the second half, Boca Raton had numerous attempts to equalize most notably a chance by Militiz he sent over the bar in minute 57. Tavares made a great save in minute 68 to keep Boca Raton within a single goal but in minute 74, Follensbee beat the Boca Raton defense and forced a recovery run by Lewis Thompson that resulted in a foul in the area. The ensuing penalty was converted by Kraze United Captain Ryan Sandidge.  That goal would stand as the match winner.

NPSL Sunshine Conference play resumes for Boca Raton FC  on Wednesday with a trip to Beaches FC in Jupiter. Boca Raton’s next NPSL home game is Wednesday May 24 against Beaches FC.  Game time is 7 pm ET at Atlantic High School Tickets can be purchased here.
