Boca Raton, FL – Boca Raton Football Club continues its 2016 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup journey on May 11 as they take on the NPSL Sunshine Conference Champions, Miami Fusion at North Miami Stadium.

Miami Fusion was a part of the 2015 ASPL Fall Tournament, where Boca Raton FC and the Fusion met twice. Boca Raton defeated the Fusion in both those meetings outscoring the NPSL-side 6-1.

“We have to be prepared for them,” says Head Coach Marcelo Castillo. “They will be a different team than the one we played in the Fall Tournament, they will be ready to avenge those two losses, one of which was a semifinals loss.”

Boca Raton FC is the only remaining amateur club from Florida playing in the U.S. Open Cup, after defeating a pair of APSL opponents in the Open Qualifying round.

U.S. Soccer also released the potential Second Round pairings, which would see the winner of the Boca Raton FC v. Miami Fusion game head north to take on the USL’s Wilmington Hammerheads, who have been knocked out of the tournament by an amateur team in three of the last four seasons.

“We will take one game at a time,” added Castillo. “We are focused on the Fusion game at the moment, but we have been watching the Hammerheads closely.”
