BOCA RATON, FL — With less than three weeks until the home opener on May 5th versus Miami United, Boca Raton FC is excited to announce the additions of Gabriel Diniz and Filip Guhr to the 2018 NPSL squad.

Diniz comes to Boca Raton FC from Stetson University where the 5’9 forward has played since 2016. In his freshman season, Diniz was named to the ASUN All-Freshman Team, and also ranked second on the team in goals and points.

The 20-year-old  scored the game-winning goal in season-opening 2-1 win at VCU and followed that up with assists in each of the next two games, at Old Dominion and Georgia Southern. As a freshman, Diniz played 1142 minutes, including 90 or more minutes three times.

“I’m very thankful and excited about this opportunity to play at Boca Raton FC,” said Diniz. “I look forward to working my hardest to improve and help the team.”

“Diniz is a proven goalscorer and a dynamic player we have been looking for,” said head coach Jim Rooney. “The competition this summer will be tough and having more than one proven goalscorer on the team will help us tremendously.”

Guhr comes to Boca Raton FC from the University of Pennsylvania.

Prior to playing at the University of Pennsylvania, Guhr played at Boca Prep and Team Boca.

A local through and through, the 6’1 defender was a varsity letter winner at Boca Prep and played his club soccer for Team Boca where he won four soccer championships including the Disney Showcase and IMG Boys Invitational Cup, CASL Showcase, the Kukkonio Cup in Slovakia, and the Potomac Memorial in Maryland.

“I’m excited to join Boca Raton FC because it gives me a way to represent my city,” said Guhr. “I’ve heard many positive things about the club and I look forward to joining head coach Jim Rooney and the entire club this summer.”

“Guhr is a bonafide defender who is game ready and can play the second he returns from college,” added Rooney. “We have a very strong defense and with the addition of Guhr we might have one of the most solid ones in the league.”
