Boca Raton Football Club hosts Miami United FC at Atlantic High School Stadium on Saturday, May 5. This will be the first of two meetings between the two teams this season.

Previous History:

Boca Raton FC is 0-0-2 versus Miami United, losing both games the two clubs played against each other last season, both by the same score, 1-0.

The Boca Raton FC’s debut game in the NPSL last season, the club faced off versus an experienced Miami United squad and went toe-to-toe with the giants of the Sunshine Conference. Boca Raton FC fell 1-0 in the match.

Later in the season, Daniel Navarro’s strike in the 75th minute helped visited Miami United FC defeat Boca Raton 1-0 on June 25, 2017.

Since then, much has changed with Boca Raton FC. Most notably, Boca Raton FC hired former Miami Fusion star, Jim Rooney. Rooney captained the Fusion from 1999 to 2001, leading the Fusion to the Supporters Shield crown in 2001 and the US Open Cup Final in 2000. Rooney was an MLS All-Star in 2001 and in total scored 21 times and notched 22 assists in an MLS career that spanned six seasons and playing for the MetroStars, Miami Fusion, and the New England Revolution.

Players to Watch:

Carlos Meneses returns for his 3rd season with Boca Raton FC and will look to build on the momentum the club found at the end of the season and all through the 2018 PreSeason.

A midfielder, Meneses will be one of the main ball distributors as Boca Raton FC will look to engage fast and early versus a difficult Miami United squad.

“We have been working very hard since January for this NPSL season,” said Meneses. “We are a different team, we are a team who’s hungry, and we are excited to see how this NPSL season will shape out.”

Kyle Giscombe is a speedy left back who is playing his first season with Boca Raton FC. Giscombe comes to Boca Raton FC after stints in teams in South Florida. A product of the Boca Raton FC tryout, Giscombe has worked tirelessly during the offseason and will be a great weapon for head coach Jim Rooney during the 2018 NPSL Season.
