Steven Bernasconi

Steven Bernasconi is a communications and marketing specialist and one-time vagabond soccer blogger. He is the former director of media and communications for the Fort Lauderdale Strikers and the creator and producer of The Soccer Tour.

Over the course of the 2017 season, Steven sought to tell the stories of the World’s Game in North America through his creation of The Soccer Tour. Part road trip, part soccer travelogue, and part vandwelling experiment, Steven drove nearly 30,000 miles across the United States, Canada and Mexico to interact with hundreds of people closest to the sport and attend 56 matches of all levels. His tour developed a devout following and the original photo, video, and written content garnered millions of impressions across social media.

Steven will draw on his experiences from The Soccer Tour to challenge attendees of the Boca Raton FC Lower Division Soccer Summit to think intentionally about their club’s purpose and reason for existence — a topic he presented at the National Premier Soccer League Annual Owners Meeting in 2017.

Prior to embarking on The Soccer Tour, Steven got his start in professional soccer with his hometown team, the Fort Lauderdale Strikers, and the North American Soccer League (NASL). Over his six years in the sport, Steven progressed from unpaid intern to communications department head, along the way developing meaningful relationships with colleagues, media, fans, and players across the soccer world.

Steven has also served as a member of several gameday communications and media relations teams. He has worked with: 2SV Sports and Florida Cup, Canada Soccer, CONCACAF, the NASL, Relevent Sports, SUM Communications, Univa Sports, US Soccer, and the 2016 Weifang Cup in China.

Steven currently works in marketing in the legal industry and resides in Deerfield Beach, FL.
